The Possible Mode of Herbicidal Action of Atrazine Basing on the Gas Exchange and the Mode of Plant Damage after Treatment

چکیده
Under field conditions atrazine inhibits C 0 2 fixation but the electron flow seems to be hindered partly only. The remaining capacity of the electron transport chain produces not used reducing electrons. The consequence should be a destructiv photooxidation. T his process however is sup pressed by photorespiration. When all possible substrats including stored carbohydrates are m etab olized by photorespiration photooxidation is not hindered any longer and destroys the plant.
